Vintage Pieces & Local Designers at Ethereal Boutique

After perusing many NYC shops in search of unique women’s clothing that doesn’t break the bank, I felt hopeless.  Of course there are chains like American Apparel and Urban Outfitters, as well as high end stores and promising small boutiques (that, alas, have price tags with one too many zeros for my taste). Hunting through Manhattan, Brooklyn & Queens for the alternative to these shops is a daunting task.

Enter Ethereal, a charming women’s boutique on Vernon Blvd in Long Island City. With shelves of vintage handbags, chiffon & silk dresses for under 70 bucks, and one-of-a-kind beaded, buttoned and bedazzled vests, it’s certainly a place to poke your head into as the season changes.  Pink walls, white chandelliers, framed photographs of Audrey (no last name required) – we love it!  Also, if you’re thinking about trendy feather hair extensions (you too can pull them off, we promise), make an appointment at the boutique – it’s only $25 and the piece is handmade and applied by the artist (she also designs feather earrings).

Ethereal restocks it’s merchandise every Thursday, and after three and a half years, owner Adriana Ron continues to fill about 50% of her shelves with local designers; the remainder is split between vintage pieces and new arrivals.  Take a look:
