Life In Motion
We’ve mentioned that the owners of Silvercup Studios, the region’s largest television and film production facility (“30 Rock,” “Gossip Girl,” “White Collar,” and much more), are the developers of The Industry. Brothers Stuart and Alan Suna are longtime community members and lovers of Long Island City, and advocates for the arts in Queens. That passion extends beyond Silvercup and LIC, and for Stuart Suna, it heads out East to The Hamptons! He is Chairman of The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF), a prestigious and exciting festival that occurs each year in October.
Tomorrow marks the 19th year of HIFF, which is a centerpiece of The Hamptons’ vibrant artistic community, and a wonderful bridge between film and economic development.
Here are some of the highly anticipated films that will be showcased at HIFF, Oct. 13th – 17th. Last year’s features earned a total of 30 Academy Award nominations (Black Swan, The King’s Speech, 127 Hours - pretty impressive stuff), so we’re eagerly awaiting the success of this year’s line-up! Take a look (descriptions from the festival website, www.hamptonsfilmfest.org):
Like Crazy“It is rare for sweet, implacable first love portrayed on screen to connect wholly with the heart. It is rare for sweet, implacable first love portrayed on screen to connect wholly with the heart. LIKE CRAZY is a dazzling exception, featuring two brilliant young actors, Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones, with remarkable screen chemistry.”
The Bully Project “Capturing the experiences of the victims of America’s overlooked bullying crisis, THE BULLY PROJECT sounds an alarm on the harassment and violence taking place among children in the US––and right under our noses.”
